Chemical Properties:

Colorless or yellow liquid. The relative density is about 0.997-1.010, the refractive index is 1.498-1.503, the flash point is 106°C, and it is soluble in ethanol. The aroma is powerful, with fresh woody aroma, and woody and earthy aroma that is almost like natural patchouli. The aroma is longer lasting.

use:

It is suitable to be used in woody fragrances, which can impart woody aroma and can be harmonized with other woody aromas and spices. Used in perfume essences to give top notes. It can also be coordinated in many scented compounds. It is suitable to be used in men's woody fragrance, the dosage is 1%-5%.

production method:

Use longifolene in heavy turpentine as raw material, add longifolene in a mixture of glacial acetic acid and a small amount of concentrated sulfuric acid, heat it in a water bath, control it at a certain temperature, add longifolene dropwise, after isomerization is completed, cool down and keep it at 35-50 ℃, dropwise add 30% hydrogen peroxide [feeding ratio 1: (1.1~1.4) mol] to maintain a slight excess of oxygenated water, but not too much, otherwise side reactions will increase. After the reaction is completed, the product is obtained after separation, neutralization, water washing, drying and distillation, with a yield of 87% and a ketone content of 65%. If 50% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution and methanol are used through a series of treatments, the ketone content can be increased to about 80% after epimerization.
